RUM TASTING

Take a cruise around the Caribbean as we follow the trail of the World’s most versatile spirit. Each island boasts a Rum with a wildly different profile to it’s neighbours and a set of recognisable characteristics to help you identify it’s home nation. How different are the rums from the demerara rich Guyana to those found in the historic distilleries of Barbados? Let us show you!

We take you through a range of different styles of rum to showcase the variety in this beloved spirit’s history, we then elevate each selection with the addition of a paired mixer and fresh garnish to inspire your future selections. You’re guaranteed to leave with a barrel of rum knowledge!

THE FULL RUM EXPERIENCE

Want to take your Rum Experience to the next level? After you have finished the Rum Tasting, why not blend and craft your own spiced rum recipe with The Full Rum Experience!

Delve into the chemistry of flavour with interactive experiments, before choosing from our array of distillates, from tropical pineapple to warming Christmas cake spices, to create your perfect Spiced Rum blend.
We’ll guide you through each step to ensure your bottle is packed with everything you like to create your perfect rum. Once we have recorded your recipe you can re-order it any time you like!

The experiences

ARRIVAL

Please arrive 5 minutes before your session begins. The studio is on the first floor, enter from Lower Briggate and come up the stairs to be greeted by our hosts.
THE RUM TASTING

Make yourself comfortable in the tasting room and enjoy a welcome drink to get settled. The tasting will begin shortly after everyone has arrived. Sit back, relax and let us take you on a Rum fuelled voyage for the next hour! Questions are always welcome so don't be shy.

If you're booked onto the Rum Tasting, then it's sadly time for us to bid you farewell - please let us know if you wish to upgrade to The Full Rum Experience, we'd love to have you!
LET'S GET INTERACTIVE

If you are joining us for The Full Rum Experience we will now move into the Blending Room where it's time for the Science! The 2nd half of this 2 hour Experience kicks off with interactive experiments designed to demonstrate how each of our senses can affect our taste. We bet you'll learn something new along the way!
BLEND IT!

Now it's time to put together your new knowledge as you will begin to blend your own Rum recipe which is completely personal to you! Get creative as you work on different blends alongside your host and bottle your favourite - the wild card comes out on top more often than you think!
A NEW RUM IS BORN!

Complete your Rum Experience as you name your unique blend on a personalised label before you seal the bottle like a pro. Hand over the recipe to your host who will record it, allowing you to reorder your bottle whenever you run out & have it delivered to your door!

Bought for a present for my girlfriend. We had a one to one session with a member of staff (Kirsty) and it was fantastic. We spent well over the hour they recommended discussing the gins and their history. A great experience!

My friend and I had the loveliest day at the Liquor Studio for the gin experience. John/Jon (not sure which) was so passionate about the history and science of gin. He had all of us laughing and made everything fun and interesting. We learned so much about gin and had so much fun tasting and making our own.

Bought this class for my wife's birthday and we both had a great time. Learning and drinking in equal measures what is not to love! The personalised bottle to take home is also a nice touch and memento of the day - highly recommended as a gift experience or group activity

I took my mother as a Christmas present to liquor studio to make our own gin. The decor is wonderful, lots of soft woods and a huge array of spirits and things to mix them with. The hosts were incredibly engaging and very friendly. With our lack of knowledge in all things gin, they made us feel at ease. It was very informative, never boring. We also got to taste plenty of gins along the way!
